Launching our Study!

Officially Launching the MTX Study!

We are so excited to share that our new research project, Managing Treatment eXperience (MTX), is officially up and running!

Children and young people who take methotrexate for rheumatic conditions have told us loud and clear that treatment can be tough and it can be made harder when you do not have information written for them. Families, too, have shared just how important it is for children to understand their medicines and feel confident joining in conversations about their own care.

And that’s where the MTX Study was developed!!

The MTX study funded by the @NIHR Research for Patient Benefit Grant is all about working together with children, young people, parents and caregivers to create fun, friendly, useful resources that help explain methotrexate in ways that make sense.  And the best bit? Children will help design them.

Over the next 18 months, we’ll be:

  • talking with children aged 6–16 about their experiences

  • running creative workshops with families

  • building prototype resources together

  • testing what works (and what doesn’t!)

  • sharing everything we make, with families and clinical teams

This project wouldn’t exist without the enthusiasm of the children and families who inspired it! We’re thrilled to be getting started.

If you’d like to follow along, we’ll be posting updates, sneak peeks, and behind‑the‑scenes snippets as the work unfolds. Families, clinicians, young people we’d love to keep you involved every step of the way!

Here’s to a brilliant start and a meaningful journey ahead! 🚀💙
